Noemi lux Marinus
What cannot be had is always subject to be coveted.
The Garlean Empire was ever-expanding and remains ever-resilient. As its territory grew, those absorbed faced conscription, adding to its power and resources.
No exception was made for a small upriver village in the far-eastern mainland and its Raen inhabitants. Though they yet clung to their culture, it was a new way of life. Those of age separated from their parents, finding new purpose and taking new names in service to Garlemald, chasing adventure and meaning beyond farming and fishing.
All conscripts became of valuable import in the context of Eorzea. Able to command aether while lacking the telltale third eye, provincials held more worth than the Empire was oft willing to admit. But when one's skills and abilities are a rare commodity, doors are opened and opportunities revealed.
The XIIth Legion held more promise than most. Zenos yae Galvus displayed appreciation only for success, disregarding common decorum in pursuing it and readily embracing the fanatical, the cruel, the mad and the bizarre in pursuit of his ends.
When power is the only demand, all needed is a chance to show it.
Or, as it may be, a chance to provide it.

Sciscitator Princeps
XIIth Imperial Legion Remnant, Kugane
Department of Magitek Development and Aetherology
Military volunteer from a small village at the northernmost reaches of the One River in Othard. A decade of service.
Two years stationed at Castrum Fluminis.
Reassigned to project Medicus Albus as a primary entrustee in recognition of aetherical aptitude.
Four seasons embedded within the Gridanian Conjurer's Guild, one season concurrently within the Dusk Wardens voidhunters free company.
Appointed as one of several subordinate directors to the late Aulus mal Asina, conducting research regarding the artificial manipulation of aether.
Following the death of mal Asina, she has broadened her team's focus towards a deeper, more fundamental understanding of the core mysteries of essence and aether with a concentration in the dichotomy of the realms.
Resources are scant. Resolve is plentiful.

Medicus Albus

Role:
Primary Entrustee, Consultant
Contribution:
Field experimentation, operationally-relevant expertise, baseline aetherological theory
Project Goal(s):
•Replicate the powers of Eorzean White Mages of eld by means of aether-amplifying Magitek catalysts entrusted to experienced conjurers.
Status:
Late-stage field testing (Stalled)
Resonant

Role:
Subordinate Researcher
Contribution:
Aetherological theory, genome mapping
Project Goal(s):
•Formulate an alteration to the Garlean genome which would allow them to overcome their intrinsic inability to wield and manipulate aether.
•Artificially infuse subjects with the power of the Echo, with a specific emphasis on creating soldiers of unparalleled reflex and foresight.
Status:
Complete
Armis Aucta Aether

Role:
Director, Lead Researcher
Contribution:
Aetherological theory, developmental direction, basic Magitek engineering, oversight of subject selection and field implementation
Project Goal(s):
•Adapt the technology developed through project Medicus Albus for other like applications, including emulation of the Dragoon Knights of Ishgard.
•Apply theory proven by project Resonant to overcome aetherical limitations of potential Garlean wielders through artificial means and aether-concentrating and -diffusing armors and devices.

| XIIth Legion Remnant, Kugane | As a still-active member of the fragmented XIIth Legion, lux Marinus has remained in Kugane and maintains her posting at the Consulate, having chosen largely to ignore the issues on the Garlean homefront in favor of continuing her research. Her personal residence is registered in an unmarked housing block within the Ijin District, south of the Consulate. This block is usually reserved for embassy guests and separate from the housing for permanent staff. |
| Laboratorium Aetherologicum, Garlean Consulate | It is known to a select few that a modest laboratory exists within the sublevels of the Garlean Consulate at Kugane. This private setting on neutral ground ensures that sensitive research may be carried out with surprising ease and secrecy, but denies convenience for any grand field experimentation. Noemi lux Marinus is one of its primary remaining custodians. |
| Ripples in the Research Community | Lux Marinus has had the privilege of being listed as a contributor on many prominent breakthroughs with aether-related theories and some several Magitek instruments and devices meant for the analyzing and manipulating thereof. Unlike most of the names listed thusly, she also has the distinct privilege of still living. |
| Application for Emergency Situations | Although the Medicus Albus project is as of yet unpublicized and still undergoing field experimentation (and is likely to advance slowly due to the loss and absence of several key contributors), some rumors of it still circulate through even the footranks. In cases where miracles of medicine are absolutely necessary, those in possession of the Medicus Albus Magitek devices are indispensably valuable. |
| A Rose with Thorns | Though having dedicated herself fully to her work and research, lux Marinus was first a military conscript and has been trained to use both a gunblade and sword. Should desperate circumstances or worthy causes call her to fight on the front, it is likely that she will answer, as she boasts a versatile skillset of Magick and martial finesse alike. |
